After upgrading, sellers manage and list eligible gifts directly via Telegram's interface. These gifts appear "For Sale" both on the user profile and the public marketplace. Sale proceeds are credited to the seller’s Telegram Stars or GRAM balance within Telegram. Some gifts, notably those bought with Telegram Stars, require a 21-day waiting period after purchase before they can be resold. Gifts transferred to external NFT platforms cannot be listed again inside Telegram until they are returned.
Requirements for Selling Telegram Gifts
Only collectible gifts can be listed for sale. To qualify, a gift must be upgraded, receiving a unique number and t.me/nft/… link. Standard gifts are ineligible unless upgraded, but most limited edition gifts allow upgrading. Out of 140 limited edition showcase gifts, 118 can be upgraded, and 89 of them have a 25 Telegram Star upgrade fee.
Once upgraded, the gift can be listed for sale in Telegram for either Telegram Stars or GRAM, depending on the collectible’s traits. Sellers receive 80% of the final sale price in Stars or 90% in GRAM; the platform enforces price floors of 125 Telegram Stars or 7 GRAM. Some collectibles are GRAM-only and cannot be listed in Stars. Waiting periods apply: gifts purchased with Telegram Stars cannot be resold for 21 days, a restriction displayed as the “canresellat” field in the app.
Any user can submit an offer for a collectible gift, even if not publicly listed. Offers are sent via direct messages, and the offered amount is reserved until the seller responds or the offer expires. If collectibles are withdrawn to blockchain platforms like Fragment, Getgems, Portals, MRKT, or Tonnel, they cannot be resold through Telegram until they are returned internally.
Payouts and Fees for Telegram Stars and GRAM
Sellers receive 80% of the sale price for gifts sold in Telegram Stars, and 90% for sales in GRAM. For example, a 1,000 Star listing pays out 800 Stars, while a 100 GRAM sale pays out 90 GRAM. The minimum listing prices—125 Stars or 7 GRAM—are strictly enforced. Some collectibles can only be sold for GRAM.
The payout difference can affect listing strategy. GRAM proceeds are stored in the user's Telegram wallet balance and are separate from external blockchain wallets. Telegram Stars can be used within Telegram for upgrades, gifts, or in-app subscriptions, and may be withdrawn to Fragment after meeting minimum balance and holding period requirements. Withdrawals of Telegram Stars require at least 1,000 Stars and a completed 21-day waiting window. When a gift is moved outside of Telegram, it cannot be relisted for sale inside Telegram until it is brought back.
The difference between Star and GRAM payouts shapes how sellers decide between in-app balance and a currency with external utility. Price floors and cooldowns are designed to discourage immediate resale but may restrict rapid trading and experimentation with lower-value items.
Trading Telegram Gifts on External Platforms
Collectible gifts may be traded externally on platforms such as Fragment, Getgems, Portals, MRKT, and Tonnel. Each marketplace sets its own commission structure, separate from Telegram's internal fees. Upgraded collectibles with a t.me/nft/… link can be moved onto the blockchain; standard gifts cannot be withdrawn or sold on-chain.
Once withdrawn, gifts are held by external contracts, not Telegram. Trading externally requires careful attention to a collectible's upgrade status and NFT link. In Telegram, offers and listings update instantly, but external transfers and listings may not be immediate and carry additional user risks.
The only supported method for selling Telegram gifts on-chain requires verifying that the gift is a collectible and using recognized platforms. Users should avoid unverified links, unofficial marketplaces, and direct wallet-to-wallet sales, as these actions carry significant fraud and asset loss risks. Always check the collectible and blockchain status using official Telegram and marketplace interfaces.
Selling Telegram gifts in the marketplace requires an upgraded collectible gift with a unique NFT link and adherence to set price floors. Sellers are paid 80% in Stars or 90% in GRAM, with GRAM-only collectibles restricted to GRAM sales. A resale lock period is applied to most new gifts; eligibility and lock status are shown directly in Telegram.
Before listing, always review a collectible gift's upgrade status, sale eligibility, and applicable lock periods. Effective management of in-app balances, commissions, and waiting periods is important for safe and efficient trading, whether inside Telegram or when using external NFT platforms.
